Bipolar Disorder is a mental health condition that affects mood, energy levels and activity. Formerly known as manic depression, it is characterised by periods of depression and periods of elevated mood known as mania or hypomania.
Unlike the everyday changes in mood that most people experience, the mood episodes associated with Bipolar Disorder can be intense, prolonged and have a significant impact on daily life, relationships and work. Episodes may last for several weeks or longer, and some people may experience long periods of stability between episodes, whilst others find their moods fluctuate more frequently.
At The Fitzrovia Psychology Clinic, we provide specialist assessment and evidence-based treatment for Bipolar Disorder. Our clinicians work collaboratively with individuals to understand their experiences, manage symptoms and develop strategies that support long-term wellbeing and stability.
