Dr Elliott Gibbs
Dr. Elliott Gibbs is a Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience supporting adults experiencing eating disorders and a broad range of other common mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and emotional distress. Alongside his specialist work within eating disorders services, Elliott is passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves, navigate life’s challenges, and move towards meaningful and lasting change.
Currently working within the Adult Outpatient Eating Disorders Service at South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust, Elliott provides evidence-based psychological therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), CBT interventions, and Guided Self-Help. He also provides clinical supervision and oversees a specialist treatment pathway within the service, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to ensure compassionate and holistic care.
Prior to qualifying as a Counselling Psychologist, Elliott spent several years working within the corporate and private healthcare sector, managing busy therapy clinics and leading large administrative teams. This experience gave him valuable insight into the pressures many people face in professional environments, including stress, burnout, perfectionism, workplace anxiety, and difficulties balancing personal wellbeing with professional demands. His understanding of both corporate culture and psychological wellbeing allows him to connect with clients from a wide range of backgrounds in a grounded, relatable, and approachable way.
Elliott’s therapeutic style combines evidence-based practice with warmth, empathy, and genuine curiosity about each person’s individual story. He values creating a safe, collaborative, and non-judgemental therapeutic space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported in working towards their goals.
Alongside his NHS work, Elliott has experience across private practice, community mental health services, and voluntary organisations, supporting individuals with complex emotional and psychological difficulties. His broad clinical background informs an integrative and person-centred approach to therapy, with a strong emphasis on compassion, authenticity, and meaningful human connection.
