Dr Hosina Gulzar

HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist and DBT-trained therapist

Dr Hosina Gulzar is a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist and DBT-trained therapist with experience across NHS inpatient and community mental health services, including adult and CAMHS settings. She has particular experience working with complex emotional needs presentations, personality difficulties, emotional dysregulation, trauma, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, and ADHD and neurodivergence.

Hosina believes that meaningful therapy begins with feeling genuinely understood. She takes a warm, compassionate and relational approach, placing importance on developing a strong therapeutic relationship in which clients feel able to explore their experiences openly and without judgement. She works collaboratively with each person to develop a shared understanding of their difficulties, considering their individual experiences, relationships and wider circumstances.

Areas of specialism include:

  • Complex emotional needs and personality difficulties
  • Emotional dysregulation
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Interpersonal and relationship difficulties
  • ADHD and neurodivergence
  • Anxiety
  • Low mood and depression
  • Self-esteem and self-worth

Hosina has specialist training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and works integratively, drawing on DBT, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and systemic approaches. She brings together different psychological models according to each client’s needs, goals and formulation, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

Her work is relational and formulation-driven, with an interest in understanding the patterns that develop within relationships and the ways in which family dynamics, social and cultural contexts, and interpersonal expectations can shape how people see themselves and relate to others. This perspective can be particularly helpful for clients experiencing longstanding interpersonal difficulties or feeling stuck in patterns they find difficult to change.

Hosina also has specialist training in ADHD, supporting adults to understand the ways neurodivergence may interact with emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, relationships and everyday functioning. Her work is trauma-informed, recognising how previous experiences can continue to influence emotional responses, relationships and an individual’s sense of self.

She brings together psychological expertise with warmth, curiosity and practical strategies, creating a space where clients can develop a deeper understanding of themselves and work towards meaningful and sustainable change.
