Dr Rossana Basile

Counselling Psychologist

Dr Rossana Basile is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with experience working with adults, young people, and their families across specialist NHS complex mental health services. She has worked with people across the lifespan and with a broad range of presenting difficulties.

Rossana’s approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and curious. She believes strongly in the value of a co-created therapeutic relationship, where feelings, meaning and understanding can emerge safely over time. She views therapy as providing a secure and containing space from which clients can explore their inner world, develop insight, process difficult emotional experiences, and create lasting psychological change.

Rossana works integratively, drawing on psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, trauma-informed, systemic, cognitive behavioural, and relational approaches to therapy. She is particularly interested in how early experiences shape emotional life, relationships, identity, and relational patterns. Her work supports clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their emotional experience.

Rossana also considers the close relationship between mind and body in her clinical work. Her approach is informed by a trauma-informed perspective, recognising the importance of bodily sensations, emotional responses, and nervous system processes in understanding trauma, attachment, stress, and emotional regulation.

Rossana has developed specialist expertise working with people who have experienced trauma, often early in life, and who may struggle with emotional regulation, relationships, or their sense of self. She has extensive experience supporting adults with histories of non-recent childhood sexual abuse, as well as children, adolescents, and families experiencing eating difficulties and ARFID within specialist NHS services.

Rossana holds a degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Criminology, and completed her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of East London. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

She has undertaken further specialist training in Brainspotting, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Family Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (FT-AN), and specialist approaches to working with ARFID, and remains committed to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice. Rossana is experienced in supporting a variety of emotional and psychological difficulties, including:
