Dr Tyler Clarke

Counselling Psychologist/Psychotherapist

Dr Tyler Clarke is a Counselling Psychologist/Psychotherapist working in both private practice and NHS mental health services. Alongside private work, he has extensive experience within acute inpatient and crisis services, supporting individuals experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties and mental health crises.

Tyler takes an integrative and trauma-informed approach to therapy, drawing on psychodynamic principles alongside evidence-based approaches including Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

He believes that meaningful change emerges through a trusting therapeutic relationship and works collaboratively with clients to develop a deeper understanding of the difficulties they are facing. Therapy provides an opportunity to explore both current concerns and past experiences, helping to identify recurring patterns and develop new ways of responding to emotional challenges.

Tyler has a particular interest in trauma and its long-term impact on emotional wellbeing, relationships, and identity. He has experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, addiction, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, hearing voices and other unusual experiences, as well as difficulties arising from complex or adverse life experiences.

Prior to his career in psychology, Tyler worked internationally as an opera singer. This experience gave him a first-hand understanding of the pressures associated with high-performance environments and informs his work with individuals experiencing burnout, perfectionism, performance anxiety, demanding careers, and significant life transitions.

He is committed to providing a warm, compassionate, and inclusive therapeutic space where people from all backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ individuals, feel respected, understood, and supported in working towards meaningful change.
