Perinatal and Parent–Infant Mental Health Specialism
Kate has specialist expertise in perinatal mental health and parent–infant relationships. Alongside her private work, she holds a Senior Psychologist position in an NHS parent and baby mental health service, offering therapy and supervision to junior clinicians and health visitors. She has completed advanced post qualification training in perinatal clinical psychology.
Kate supports parents and parents-to-be with difficulties such as anxiety, intrusive thoughts, low mood, self criticism, birth trauma, and bonding challenges. The transition to parenthood can often stir up unresolved childhood experiences. Kate works with parents to understand how these histories may shape their current experience of parenting, particularly when it feels different from what they had hoped for. She supports parents in creating the emotional environment they want for their family and also works with couples who wish to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, or navigate the transition to parenthood together.
Kate offers a compassionate, normalising space to explore these experiences, acknowledging that this stage of life can feel both joyful and deeply challenging.
“This therapy did nothing short of changing my life. Kate went above and beyond to support me in understanding why I felt after having my baby. I have been able to work through some of my unresolved childhood trauma which has helped me massively. Not only did Kate help me understand that I was not alone in this process but also how to cope. My relationship with my daughter has greatly improved as I am starting to understand her better without being so harsh on myself. I will always thankful to Kate for getting me back on track.”
