Dr Gurbaani Bhalla is a Counselling Psychologist who has been practicing in mental health services for over five years. She is a registered practitioner with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and has developed a broad range of clinical experience across NHS settings. Gurbaani is known for her warm, reflective, and compassionate approach, and for her commitment to providing thoughtful, person-centred care.

Gurbaani completed her Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of East London, alongside a Master’s degree in Affective Disorders from King’s College London. Her academic and clinical training has shaped her integrative way of working, allowing her to draw on a range of evidence-based approaches tailored to the individual needs of each person she works with.

She has a specialist interest and extensive experience in working with eating disorders, having worked across several NHS eating disorder services. Gurbaani supports individuals experiencing a range of difficulties including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. She is skilled in delivering therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), and MANTRA, integrating these approaches in a way that remains flexible and responsive to each person’s unique experiences.

At the heart of Gurbaani’s work is a deep curiosity about the meaning behind eating difficulties. She offers a space where individuals can explore their relationship with food and themselves, helping them to make sense of their experiences with care and without judgement. She works relationally, placing strong emphasis on building a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, understood, and supported.

Gurbaani is passionate about creating a therapeutic environment that is collaborative and empowering. She values reflection, authenticity, and compassion, and believes that meaningful change can emerge when people are given the space to reconnect with themselves and their inner strengths.
